In connection with the question of subscribing one million dollars for Treasury Notes issued by the Finance

Ministry, the Chamber of Commerce yesterday convoked the

city leading merchants to a meeting, but no decision was reached. Those present at the meeting are of the same opinion that in view of the present depressed business

condition in Canton, it is impossible for merchants to raise

such a big sun of money within such a short time as desired

by the Government.
